I recently read an article from Guardian Post about how Google’s policy when acquiring a company is to buy their team more than the product. The article talks about why Google’s PR team still thinks that Skype is the next big thing and what amazes them is that the people who were behind the vision of the product have left the company. The article can be found here
Skype was sold to ebay recently and the founders of the company – Niklas Zennstrom & Janus Friis left Skype to start their next venture called Joost. With some tension in the ranks between the founders and ebay, the founders choose to leave the company and go their own way. What the article conveys is all about nurturing the entrepreneurs to become intrapreneurs when working for huge companies like ebay & Google.
