Well its been pretty long since I blogged, 50 days to be precise. But hey hold on! I have damn good exciting news to share. We at nuStart are putting together another event this Friday called Facebook Garage – Stockholm’s first.
Facebook Garage is a global concept that is held in different parts of the world, across continents, across timezones! The event has been held more as a developer garage focussing on developing applications and monetizing them. In short the focus was more for developers / coders / geeks. But we wanted it to focus on both the worlds – developing applications and business models that are emerging through such communities. And we think we have a pretty neat well rounded set of speakers ranging from the folks who created the pink ribbon campaign for breast cancer to a Swedish – US based VC talking about business models that are emerging and what kind of frameworks to look out for.
We also have Beata Wickbom as our moderator who I am sure is going to be the hot girl in town making sure the event is always buzzing and no one ends up taking off their thinking caps. Annika Lidne from Lidne Inc a new media expert and consultant will talk about why she so hates facebook and loves new media. We also have Ms. Brit Stakston from JMW who I think is a great support for the event. Being one of the earliest Internet adopters in Scandinavia, she has been a veteran and pioneer in many senses. She is going to talk about the media mix the companies need to adopt when using these communities to grow their busienss. And oh she hooked us with Niklas Strandh who is a very prominent Swedish blogger. Along with Johan Edfeldt (the Swedish VC), they are forming the Zodiac panel talking about how social networks and communities will be positioned in the coming year.
And we have the development side of things with Peter Arvai talking about what went right and what didn’t with MobiSpine’s facebook application; David Haddad talking about making money through facebook – is there a gold mine in there or is it just pure hype; Jasmine Eklund from Pronto Communications talking about how they created ripples using their pink ribbon campaign on Facebook.
Oh and we like to give more. So we romped in Jonas Nyvang from mySpace to spice up the whole event. He is going to talk about mySpace vs Facebook – what is the future of the standard war and whether mySpace is catching up with Facebook with regard to users, valuation, controversies etc.
