I know this is delayed by 24 hours but thanks to the lack of sleep & some rustiness, I could not wake up before now. So here goes my thank you note to all the hubbubers! All the folks who came down for hubbub, please give yourself a pat on your back. If not for your support, I don’t think we would have ever dreamt of an event of such proportions. I have summarized what I think went right & what I think could have been better.

First the good things:

1. Internet working in full swing
2. People – their participation on the back channels, live blogging, flickring & at the same time making sure there was always some time for some fun & for those long yawns!
3. Logistics – the way the tables were arranged ( take a look here) to form a HUB – so that people who came in to the event made up the hub.
4. Food, reception, tagging, guest book – they all just spiced up the whole space. Some interesting tags were “social sluts” , “free hugs”, “Photowhore” and so on. Overall it just made the event look more geeky & at the same time cool.
5. Recording & interviewing – I think we did a pretty decent job speaking & asking people their opinions & so forth. The entire day was recorded & can be found here in parts. Although the quality could have been better (especially with the external disturbances), I think it is a good start nevertheless.
6. The speakers were great! Listening to all these folks in one stage talking about all interrelated stuff which relates & contradicts somehow not only made me pull a few strands of hair but also made me open my eyes more to the new new things happening.
The “can – be – improved” things:

1. Technical snags – sound systems, mic’s,
2. Shuttling between computers – we need to fix 1 computer from now on & collect the presentations from speakers in advance. Ofcourse, guys like Patrick who did his presentation in C++ / OpenGL are always welcome:)
3. Inspiring the speakers to speak more; bring in more spice to discussions & make sure there is something controversial that comes out of the speakers. Although this is what every conference organizer would dream of, it is hard to get the maximum out of the speakers due to constraints like time. Hopefully we find more speakers with more time thrown in, whose opinions contradict each other, so having them together will be more fun!
4. Find more women to speak on stage. This is something that we will seriously look into for hej! 2008 along with point 3.
5. Adhering to the time limit. I think the timings of most of the panels & speakers were kind of skewed primarily due to the delayed start. That again emphasizes point 1.

Nevertheless, I am proud to be a part of the conference – working behind the stages to make sure the guys from Singapore always delight the wonderful Swedes. We just hope that you enjoyed attending the event as much as we enjoyed putting this for you! Waiting for all of us to regroup & start working on more of our ideas for the spring.
